⛳ 5 Game-Changing Training Aids to Fix Your Swing

The weather’s heating up, and it’s finally time to prove that all those winter practice sessions weren’t just an excuse to avoid chores. Whether you’re gunning to break 70 (or, let’s be honest, just trying to keep it under 100), the right training aids can make all the difference. We’ve tested a bunch, and these are the ones actually worth your time:

Best for a Holistic Workout: GolfForever Swing Trainer

If your idea of warming up is taking three aggressive swings and hoping for the best, you might want to rethink that strategy. GolfForever gives you a solid pre-round routine and a way to build strength and flexibility, all with a weighted warm-up club that attaches to resistance bands. Bonus: It comes with pro-led workouts, so you don’t have to figure it out yourself.

Best for Dialing in Swing Path:  Birdie Mat Pro

If your divot pattern looks more like a crime scene than a golf swing, this mat is about to expose the truth. The impact area turns white where you make contact, letting you see exactly what’s happening with your swing path. No ball? No problem. You can still groove a consistent move that translates to better distance and accuracy.

Best for Alignment & Consistency: Golf Alignment Stick Holder

Alignment sticks are the unsung heroes of better ball striking, but unless you have a plan, they’re just cool-looking props in your bag. This holder makes them actually useful. Set them up at your backswing and downswing intersection, tweak the angles, and finally figure out why you keep missing greens by 20 yards.

Best for Weight Shift & Power: WHYGOLF Swing Trainer Pressure Plate

Ever feel like you’re hanging back on your swing, losing power and spraying shots? The WhyGolf Pressure Plate is here to keep you honest. It gives instant feedback on weight shift, balance, and how well you’re actually transferring energy into the ball. It’s like a lie detector test for your golf swing—except you want to know the results.

Best for Fixing a Slice: Slice Corrector

If your drives have a permanent VIP pass to the right rough (or worse, OB), this is your new best friend. It forces you into an inside-out swing path, which means no more slicing it off the planet. And if you’re swinging too steeply, the cushioned surface lets you know immediately. The clip is now more secure, so no mid-swing disasters—just a smooth, repeatable move that actually works.

🔦 Sim Spotlight: An Automated Setup

For u/deadlychambers, building a home golf simulator wasn’t just about creating a place to practice—it was about making the entire experience as seamless as possible. Their greenhouse-turned-golf-sim is a fully optimized space, where automation takes center stage.

A motion sensor kicks things off the moment they walk in, turning on the lights, power strip, and computer. GSPro launches automatically, so within minutes, they’re ready to swing. When the session is over, a single switch powers everything down. No wasted time, no extra steps—just golf.

We spoke with u/deadlychambers about their setup and the challenges they tackled along the way.

What inspired you to install a golf simulator, and why did you choose your specific location?

After finishing my journey of golfing in all 50 states last year, I was pretty exhausted from all the travel. My family in Ohio wanted me to move there, so they took the initiative—cleaning out an old greenhouse and getting the ball rolling after I had talked about building a sim.

Walk us through your decision-making process—what factors influenced your choices for the enclosure, launch monitor, software, and other components?

My cousin built the frame for the floor and set up the impact screen, but there were a lot of discussions about height and width concerns. To get a better idea of what I needed, I watched a ton of YouTube videos and joined r/GolfSimulator. That helped me figure out the key factors to consider.

What was the most difficult part of setting up your sim, and how did you solve it?

The projector setup. I didn’t fully understand that I had a short-throw projector, so I spent hours tinkering—mounting, reinforcing, and then tearing it down to reposition it. Eventually, I ended up cutting a hole in the platform on the ground, and now it’s perfect.

Where did you spend the most money in your setup, and do you think it was worth it?

The Bushnell Launch Pro (BLP). Initially, I had a Garmin R10, but the chipping issues made it feel like I was only playing half of a round. The BLP has been fantastic, so I’d say it was absolutely worth it.

For those on a tight budget, where do you think it's most important to invest in a golf sim setup?

The mat! If you’re planning to hit 8,000 balls a month like I do, invest in something with proper shock absorption. I cut a 12x34 strip out of a cheap, sturdy mat and replaced it with a more forgiving surface. Your joints will thank you.

If money was limitless, what’s the first thing you’d upgrade?

I’d love to go with a top-of-the-line launch monitor, but honestly, I’m happy with what I have.

If you could go back and do it again, what would you do differently?

I’d do everything the same—but in way less time.

What’s your favorite part of your setup, and why?

The automation. I have a motion sensor that turns on the computer and projector, then starts up GSPro. I can be hitting balls within 1-2 minutes of walking through the door.

🏌️TGL Recap

And then there were four. After an electric regular season filled with dramatic comebacks, clutch shots, and hilarious hot mic moments, the TGL Semifinals are locked in. NY Golf Club, LA Golf Club, Atlanta Drive GC, and The Bay Golf Club are the last squads standing.

The action kicks off Monday, March 17, with LA taking on NY in one Semifinal, while Atlanta and The Bay battle for a spot in the championship.

Here’s how we got here:

LA vs. The Bay (5-3)

Best Shot: Sahith Theegala’s 20-foot chip-in for birdie at No. 12 was the spark that ignited LA’s comeback. Under pressure, with the No. 1 seed on the line, he delivered—and his dad’s legendary dance in the crowd made it even better. Pure clutch.

Hot Mic Moment: This one goes out the a fanboy moment from Shane Lowry: “My wife’s probably losing her mind over Serena there.” (And yes, she did get to meet the tennis legend!)

NY vs. Boston

Best Shot: Xander Schauffele’s clutch 11-foot birdie at No. 12  (timestamp 1:21) with the Hammer in play was the dagger. A playoff spot on the line, the pressure cranked up, and Schauffele delivered—knocking Boston out and sending NY to the Semis.

Hot Mic Moment: Schauffele doing his best Adam Scott impression was top-tier comedy: "My name’s Adam Scott, and I am extremely good-looking, mate. Everything I do is perfection. Alright, baby, we are dancing now."

Jupiter vs. Atlanta

Best Shot: Nick Dunlap’s first TGL match, and he made it count. The 2023 U.S. Amateur champ showed up big, but his moment of the night? A pinpoint approach that had Horschel FaceTiming JT to let him know he was 'replaced.' Cold-blooded.

Hot Mic Moment: Billy Horschel and Tiger Woods joking about the crowd booing Atlanta (0:16) was gold. Then again, it IS Tiger’s hometown.

And just Like that…the TGL regular season is over

Ironically, neither of TGL’s co-founders made the cut for the postseason. NY, LA, Atlanta, and The Bay took the cake. But only one team will hoist the first-ever TGL trophy. Who’s your pick to take it all? 🏆 The road to the championship starts March 17.
