⛳ Everything We Know about TGL
We’re just a few months away from the launch of TGL on January 7, 2025. Here’s the inside scoop on what’s shaping up to be the most epic golf experience of the year. ⬇️
What is TGL?
It’s primetime golf with a twist—a 3v3 league featuring six teams from six cities, with top PGA Tour players like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Rickie Fowler. Why does Sim Weekly care? Because it’s part simulator, part real golf. 🏌️♂️
Network: ESPN, baby. 📺
Match-Ups: Weekly 2-hour matchups, playoffs, and a championship. 🏆
Format:
Triples: 9-hole, 3v3 alternate shot.
Singles: 6 holes of head-to-head action.
Scoring: Each hole is worth 1 point (ties score 0), with a total of 15 original holes across each match. Course designs? All brand new, thanks to three incredible designers!
Where are they playing?
TGL has created a first-of-its-kind venue at SOFi—players will golf on an area roughly the size of a football field, split into two zones: the Screenzone and the Greenzone.
What is the Screenzone?
Players begin each hole teeing off from a real grass tee box and hit into a massive simulator screen that is 24x the size of a regular golf sim screen.
Where they hit from next depends on where their ball ends up—there are fairway, rough, and sand options to hit from. Shot placement matters, too. For long shots, players hit from a back box, and for shorter shots, they’ll move to a front box.
What is the Greenzone?
Once within 50 yards of the pin, players transition to the Greenzone, where the magic really happens. The area is massive—about the size of four basketball courts.
The green is tech-enhanced, meaning it can simulate thousands of pin positions and adapt the surface for varying conditions. Each match has endless possibilities for new hole setups. Golfers play here until their ball is in the hole!

Atlanta Drive GC: Lucas Glover, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel.
Boston Common Golf: Keegan Bradley, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott.
Jupiter Links: Tom Kim, Tiger Woods, Max Homa, Kevin Kisner.
LA Golf Club: Sahith Theegala, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose.
New York Golf Club: Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young.
The Bay Golf Club: Ludwig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry.
What are the courses?
TGL is teasing some of their courses on Instagram, including the canyon-inspired par 5 Quick Draw and the Irish par 3 Craic On.
What Sets TGL Apart?
It’s not just golf. Expect a shot clock, a ref, timeouts to ice the golfer, mic’d-up players, and the hammer, which ups the stakes by increasing a hole’s value. 👀
